About Us
Established in the 80's, Compliant Surface Finishing began as a family-run business, with Bill Smith, our father, serving as Managing Director and lead Powder Coater. Alongside Bill, Lynn managed the office operations, while their son Will took on the role of project and logistics manager.
Bill brought over 40 years of industry experience to the company, having worked with his own family prior to founding Compliant Surface Finishing. His expertise spanned from coating castings for drainage systems, wet spraying components for military vehicles, and finishing electrical cabinets.
In 2020, when Bill sadly passed away, William and Lynn took over the reigns carrying on the family business after working alongside of Bill for over 30 years. William now leads as our company director overseeing all projects from quotes to quality assurance. Joanne, his sister was brought in to the company in 2021 as our Office and Sales Manager.
At Compliant Surface Finishing, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional quality in every project. We excel in the pre-treatment of surfaces, ensuring they are perfectly prepared for the final coat, and maintain rigorous quality control throughout the entire process. This commitment ensures a flawless and durable finish every time.
Today, Compliant Surface Finishing focuses primarily on a variety of products including home furnishings giving our customers a bespoke finish for their interior needs. As we move forward, we are expanding our portfolio and taking on a wider range of coating projects consisting of industrial, commercial and residential furnishings while staying true to the high standards of our companies values.

Maybrey Reliance Castings and Caro have worked alongside Compliant Surface Finishing since the mid 80's, powder coating our cast product and performing anodised finishes on select work.
Compliant have previously powder coated thousands of general engineering die cast parts for Caro and also complex die-sand and investment cast parts for the Ministry and Defence via Maybrey.
